Peer-Guided Study Groups, Drop-In Tutoring, Mentored Study Program

What is the application process?

To be considered for the position, all applicants must

  • submit a fully completed application
  • meet grade requirements (B+ or higher in courses you wish to lead)
  • attend an interview

How can I apply to be a Study Group Leader or Tutor?

You can apply for a Study Group and Tutoring position . The peer-leader application is thorough, so we recommend you take your time completing it. The general outline of the application is as follows:

  • Background information
  • Program commitment (program interest, availability, transcript submission)
  • Open-ended and scenario-based questions 

What is the interview process?

Typically, interviews are 1:1 over Zoom, and last about 20 minutes. Interviews are conducted by ASLA staff and current peer leaders.

What is the selection process?

Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will be reviewed during the last two weeks of February, 2025.

ASLA staff will read all complete applications and extend invitations to applicants. Final decisions will be made by May 1, 2025.

What are important dates to keep in mind?

All newly hired peer leaders are expected to attend the following mandatory trainings:

  • New Peer-Leader Orientation, Saturday, May 3, 2025
  • Fall Peer-Leader Orientation, Monday, September 15, 2025

  • attend an interview

How can I apply to be an academic coach or peer mentor?

You can apply for coaching and mentoring positions .  The peer-leader application is thorough, so we recommend you take your time completing it. The general outline of the application is as follows:

  • Background information 
  • Program commitment (program interest, availability, reference information)
  • Open-ended and scenario-based questions 

What is the interview process?

Interview format for next recruitment cycle has not been finalized yet.

Typically, interviews are 1:1 and last about 20 minutes. Interviews are conducted by ASLA staff.
